MEARS ASHBY & HARDWICK MAGAZINE 'VILLAGE LIFE

The Mears Ashby and Hardwick Magazine, 'Village Life', is run on a voluntary basis to ensure that all members of the community are aware of events, activities, news and services regarding Mears Ashby and Hardwick; to provide a means for the promotion of village clubs and societies to increase popularity and participation; to create a closer community by allowing people to share their stories, ideas and concerns; to facilitate interaction between villagers and those involved in the magazine, to create a stronger and more sustainable community; to act as a focal point for the community in partnership with other relevant organisations to further the recommendations of the Parish Plan; and to bring benefit to both villages in appropriate ways.

We are very grateful to the many people who contribute articles and time to Village Life and encourage you to send us your letters, articles, comments, photos, etc. We are also interested in news of births, marriages and deaths of anyone connected to our villages that may not have been recorded by the Parish— photos of weddings are especially welcome!

Please email contributions to the Editor or Sub-Editor.

Marie Curie Cancer Care Walk Ten - Boughton House, Northamptonshire on Saturday 4th September.

Walk Ten’ is a 10km walk which keeps within the walls of the park and takes in the stunning views of the house and grounds, including the canalised river and mount, which has been restored to its original inspiring condition. This twilight stroll gives walkers exclusive access to Boughton after dusk, where they will enjoy an evening of music and entertainment with friends and family. We are encouraging all participants to raise sponsorship in support of our nurses in the community. Marie Curie Nurses work across the UK; from remote Scottish islands through to villages, towns and our biggest cities. They’re there for patients and carers at what can be the most stressful and exhausting time of their lives. Our service is always free to patients and their families. Walk Ten is a new event for us and we are hoping the Northamptonshire event will raise £50,000; funding a further 2,500 hours of nursing care in the local community. Walk Ten also provides us with a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of our nursing service and your support in promoting our event would be incredibly valuable in helping us achieve this. Further information on the event can be found by visiting www.mariecurie.org.uk/walkten or please contact our Northamptonshire Fundraising Team on 01604 442311.
